About Austin Madinga
I am a digital marketing, branding and communications professional. My expertise is built on 20 years practical work and consultancy experience in brand design, digital, communications and IT. I have successfully executed brand and digital solutions across multiple platforms and formats for clients in government, private sector and non-profit sectors.
I am a director of mHub, a technology and innovation hub based in Lilongwe. The hub provides a platform for young graduates, innovators and technology entrepreneurs to expose their talent, have their technical skills nurtured and facilitate linkages with industry. During it’s inception, I was instrumental in securing start-up funding and also in establishing working relationships with local and international partners. I have also been a founding member and organiser of initiatives such as TEDxLilongwe, Google Developer Group Lilongwe and IT Association of Malawi.
I have worked in technical, programme management and content development roles at supervisory and manager levels for MalawiNet Limited, NICO Technologies Limited, Celtel Malawi (now Airtel Malawi) and Malawi Economic Justice Network between 1999 and 2008. From 2008 I have worked on design, digital, communication and brand development projects. A portfolio of some of this work is available on Behance.
I have excellent communication and people management skills having worked with diverse teams of professionals across multicultural settings and generations. I also have hands on experience in customer relationship management, content management, programme and partnership management, events planning, management and promotion, and managing systems change. I am an innovative thinker with an analytical approach to delivering solutions on-target, on-brief and on-budget.

Successfully conceptualised and developed new brand, digital, communication and visual solutions for a wide spectrum of leading brands and organisations. Member of team that planned and successfully executed Malawi’s first ever TED event, TEDxLilongwe in May 2014 and organised a number of other TEDx events.
Lead of Google Developer Groups (GDG) Lilongwe where I led the planning and delivery of events including Barcamps (two day conferences), developer challenges and talks. I also led membership recruitment, mentoring and resource mobilisation efforts.
Partner for Television for the Environment (TVE) where I researched and generated film ideas for the Africa Partner Network. I also translated film documentaries and distributed content to local broadcasters.
